The American Heart Association’s Heart Walk promotes physical activity and connects communities to heart health awareness.

Last Saturday, BioIQ showed its support at the American Heart Association’s annual 5K Heart Walk, its premiere fundraising event, in both Atlanta and Santa Barbara. More than one million people participated in nearly 340 events nationwide, aiming to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and encourage physical activity for better heart health.

BioIQ team members on both coasts joined hundreds of community members to support the AHA’s goal to promote heart-healthy living. In Santa Barbara, Heart Walk attendees stopped by BioIQ’s table to learn about the company’s mission to connect people to health testing through its software platform and identify risk factors for chronic conditions.

Across the country, BioIQ team members, along with friends and family, laced up their shoes and met at the starting line for an energizing walk through downtown Atlanta.

When it comes to heart health, maintaining healthy glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure values reduce the likelihood of being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease. Getting tested regularly and exercising consistently can vastly improve your health. According to the AHA, for every hour of regular exercise, you can add two hours to your life expectancy. The BioIQ team, along with hundreds of Heart Walk participants, celebrated this and promoted good heart health by running, jogging or walking the race route.
