COVID-19 Has Deferred Care, Delayed Treatments and Exacerbated Chronic Conditions
How health plans and employers can help at-risk member populations manage their healthcare post-pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic has deferred care, delayed treatment, and exacerbated chronic conditions. An estimated 41% of adults in the US reported having delayed or avoided medical care because of COVID-19 concerns. How can health plans and employers provide solutions to deliver care where it’s most safe? What is the best way to engage members and employees so they will feel save coming back to their in-person visit to their dentist, eye doctor or primary care physician?
Justin Bellante BioIQ founder and CEO will explore these and other questions with Richard Popiel MD, MBA, who currently serves as co-founder and managing partner of Xploration Health, LLC, a firm that assists individuals and organizations in navigating the healthcare system. Past senior leadership experience includes serving as executive vice president and corporate chief medical officer at Cambia Health Solutions, president and chief operating officer for Horizon Healthcare Innovations, vice president and chief medical officer at Horizon BCBS New Jersey, and as vice president and senior medical director for The Permanente Company, a subsidiary of Kaiser Permanente.
Board-certified in internal medicine, Popiel earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and his medical degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
