Each spring, the Health Evolution Summit convenes in Laguna Beach, California, to connect prominent leaders throughout the healthcare industry. Attendees are challenged to “cross boundaries, spur innovation, and work together to shape the future of healthcare.”
This year was no exception. Hundreds of executives gathered for the three-day event including many prominent innovators, policymakers, and investors. More than half of the attendees were either CEOs, chair people, or founders of their respective companies, including BioIQ chairman Pat Cua and CEO Justin Bellante.
The open-air environment and round-the-clock activities encouraged lots of candid discussions designed to uncover creative solutions to healthcare’s most pressing problems. Presentations spanned a broad range of topics including the gradual shift to value-based care, the rise of consumer-directed health plans, and the potential of genomics to deliver individualized cancer treatments.
The attendees represented a diverse mix of viewpoints but they shared a common goal: to stretch their thinking and foster new ideas that will allow the industry to break through to the next iteration of health care. There were ample opportunities to learn about new technologies and exchange ideas—not to mention early morning activities like biking to Camp Pendleton, sailing on the Pacific, hiking the rustic coastline and enjoying a power yoga class. Pat and Justin left the summit conference feeling optimistic and energized — with important new relationships and lots of pertinent ideas about how to keep BioIQ moving forward.
